A planned development permit application for The Launiu Ward Village, the eleventh mixed-use tower in the master-planned community, was recently submitted to the Hawaii Community Development Authority (HCDA). According to a March 13 Ward Village/The Howard Hughes Corp. statement, the new tower will offer 486 homes, ground-level retail and outdoor gathering places. The Launiu will also feature approximately 16,000 square feet of open public and green space linked by bike paths and sidewalks to a park and Ulana Ward Village, a nearby tower that broke ground in December.
According to Ward Village, The Launiu is expected to contribute “$691 million in economic impact, $233 million in workers’ earnings and $42 million in state tax revenue. An average of more than 565 jobs will be sustained yearly for the duration of the project [which is] estimated to generate $123 million in real property tax over 30 years.”
The Launiu Ward Village is designed by Arquitectonica, architect; ODADA, interior designer; and VITA Planning & Landscape Architecture.
