WATG, an international design firm headquartered in California with offices in Honolulu, has promoted two designers to management positions.

Michael Brown, a WATG landscape architect certified in Hawai‘i and California, is now creative director of WATG’s Honolulu landscape studio.

Brandon Large, an architectural designer, project director and associate at WATG’s Honolulu office, is now creative director of the office’s design team.

Brown, also a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, has over 37 years of experience in landscape architecture and related fields. Known for his skill and for honoring the environment and local culture, Brown’s portfolio includes resorts, hotels, mixed-use developments and residential projects as well as planning and designing parks throughout the United States, Asia and the Middle East. Notable works include the Ohia Resort + Spa, The Ritz-Carlton Kapalua and, most recently, the Hale Koa Hotel’s Ilima Pool Renovation and the design of the Backyard Demonstration Garden with the Kokua Hawaii Foundation.

Large joined WATG in 2016. In his new role, he will focus on design excellence and in fulfilling client goals. A graduate of the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa School of Architecture, his recent notable work includes the Indigo One Thousand Lake Hot Springs Resort in Hangzhou, China; Jinshuo Hotel + Resort in Sichuan, China; and most recently, the JW Marriott Jeju Hot Springs Resort in South Korea.
