HPU MSCM classes now fully online

As of Aug. 25, Hawai‘i Pacific University’s (HPU) graduate-level construction management program is completely online with hybrid options.

“Beginning in Fall [Semester] 2025, the MSCM [Master of Science in Construction Management] program is delivered fully online, with the option to enroll in limited hybrid course sections. This format supports the eight-week accelerated model and allows students to complete the degree in as little as 12 months,” says Charles Chen, Ph.D., HPU assistant professor of construction management and the program’s chair.

New faculty are also joining the MSCM program.

“Under the effective leadership of our new [HPU College of Business] Dean, Dr. Amy Nguyen-Chyung … we have expanded our [MSCM] instructional team by adding three adjunct faculty members,” Chen reports.

The new faculty offer “specialized expertise in cost management, project planning using Primavera P6 software, and procurement and compliance in construction,” Chen says. “Each brings strong professional experience in their respective areas, further strengthening the academic and practical foundation of the program.”

MSCM’s advanced curriculum prepares graduates to effectively lead and manage construction projects and covers project planning, scheduling, document interpretation, risk management, resource allocation, procurement and financial controls.
