Sacred Hearts Academy won this year’s award for Best Newspaper in the State at the 2023 Hawai’i High School Journalism Awards.

The Kaimuki-based college-preparatory school’s student newspaper, Ka Leo, won awards in seven other categories, including Breaking News, Investigative Journalism, Nonfiction Storytelling, Opinion and Social Media.

Hawaii Baptist Academy’s student newspaper, Eagle Eye, won five awards in the Photo Essay, Action/Candid Photo, Multimedia Story, Podcast and Website categories.

Mililani High School, McKinley High School, Kalani High School and Kaua’i High School also received awards during the ceremony in Honolulu on April 18.

Trade Media Hui was the Writing Division award sponsor for this year’s competition.
