Trade Media Hui announces a significant addition to its editorial team with the hiring of veteran Honolulu journalist Jason Genegabus as senior editor. In his new role, Jason will continue to perpetuate Trade Media’s legacy of experience in Hawaii while helping to grow its digital footprint online.
Bringing a wealth of experience from his 20-plus years of work as a reporter, columnist, editor and web producer at the Honolulu Star-Advertiser (and the former Honolulu Star-Bulletin), Jason is set to enhance Trade Media’s commitment to delivering high-quality journalism and thought-provoking content to a growing audience.
“After more than 22 years in daily print journalism, I’m extremely excited to venture into the magazine realm and explore the stories of Hawaii’s construction, property management and hospitality industries, which are all vital to the economic success of our state,” he says. “I’m grateful for the opportunity Trade Media Hui president Faith Freitas has given me and look forward to working with the talented individuals who keep Hawaii moving forward.”
Along with direct oversight of signature Trade Media Hui publications Building Industry Hawaii and Hawaii Hospitality, Jason will work with Building Management Hawaii editor Chris Aguinaldo and BIDService Hawaii research coordinator Keoni Perkins to continue setting the standard for industry reporting in Hawaii.
Born and raised in Kailua, Jason is a graduate of ‘Iolani School and the University of Southern California. In addition to his journalism career, he also serves as an instructor at Hawaii Pacific University, where he teaches classes in communication, public speaking, mass media, digital writing and editing, podcasting and e-commerce.
