Ohana Military Communities, an arm of Hunt Companies Hawaiʻi, is investing $71 million to upgrade and refresh nearly 3,000 homes in its portfolio.

This month, OMC completed renovating the interior of the first of eight Pa Honua units at Marine Corps Base Hawaii in Kaneohe. Pa Honua is home to more than 450 Marines and their families, with OMC spending $30 million to renovate kitchens and baths in 223 residences. All Pa Honua units will feature plank flooring, with some residence floor plans to be slightly modified.

James Ramirez, Hunt Building Co. senior vice president, is providing construction management services for the project, which started in January and is slated to end in 2025.

OMC is also improving 2,730 of its homes in other Marine Corps neighborhoods and at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. This includes $41 million in road repairs, new appliances and high-efficiency air conditioning units, new roofs, A/C and water heater replacement, new luxury vinyl plank flooring as well as siding and paint repairs.

OMC will also build two large playgrounds and resurface a number of existing Pearl Harbor playgrounds and courts in the fourth quarter of 2023.
