Ka‘ulu, a new master-planned community by Gentry Kalaeloa LLC, a subsidiary of Gentry Homes Ltd., is set to welcome its first residents this fall.

The community’s projected opening is Nov. 18, said Rick Hobson, vice president of sales and marketing at Gentry Homes, and is expected to offer Ka‘ulu’s first completed residences.

The development is the outcome of a partnership between Hunt Companies and Gentry Homes.

Situated on approximately 30 acres, Ka‘ulu includes 262 two- and three-bedroom multi-family attached homes, each featuring a single-car enclosed garage. An additional 128 single-family detached homes feature three bedrooms, 2 1⁄2 baths, a two-car garage and landscaped front yards.

“We are thrilled to be pioneering the development of quality homes for local families who live and work in our communities,” Hobson said in a news release. “The new Ka‘ulu homes will be built as a pedestrian-friendly development with ample open spaces and common recreational areas to provide years of comfort while the homes will offer savings through optimal energy-efficient features.”

Prices for reserved and market units will be published at a later date.

Ka‘ulu will be the first residential community in the newly designated Kalaeloa Community Development District, aligning with the vision of Kalaeloa as a “Center of Excellence,” or “Wahi Ho‘okela.”

Gentry Kalaeloa LLC will design and market the homes, including 87 reserved housing units for residents earning up to 140 percent of O‘ahu’s median income.

Operating in Hawai‘i for more than 50 years, Gentry Homes has constructed over 14,000 homes across Hawai‘i since 1968, including master-planned communities Waipio Gentry and Ewa by Gentry.
