New Hawaii Department of Transportation Director Ed Sniffen, confirmed by the Hawaii State Senate on April 28, now leads a new leadership team. HDOT announced the new hires on May 5 while simultaneously announcing its priorities through 2026.

HDOT’s new team includes Deputy Director for Administration Tammy Lee, Deputy Director for Harbors Dre Kalili and Deputy Director for Highways Robin Shishido. Ford Fuchigami will serve as Airports deputy director, following Gov. Josh Green’s nomination of former Deputy Director James Kunane Tokioka to lead the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism.

Under the Green administration, HDOT priorities through 2026 include improving safety, preservation and resilience of the transportation system; supporting housing with infrastructure improvements; increasing energy and food security; climate adaptation; addressing Hawaii’s cost of living and the economy; and sustainability of transportation funding.
