Hawaii Asphalt Paving Industry (HAPI) announced the hiring of Sara Thomas as executive director following Jon Young’s departure from the role. Young will remain as senior advisor to offer institutional knowledge and technical support during the transition.

“I am confident Sara is ready to take the lead and will serve our members and government agency partners well,” Young said in an email to Building Industry Hawai‘i.

Thomas brings over 20 years of industry experience to the role, leading regulatory compliance programs for Grace Pacific LLC and contributing to MATHCOUNTS, an after-school program for middle school students that builds problem-solving skills and enthusiasm for mathematics.

As executive director, Thomas plans to strengthen industry partnerships, drive continuous improvement and inspire the next generation of Hawai‘i’s infrastructure professionals.
