The state Department of Accounting and General Services (DAGS) Public Works Division (PWD) began renovations at the Kān‘eohe Civic Center last March to improve the building’s exterior and parking lot.
“The Kān‘eohe Civic Center is a small but important facility for Windward residents because it houses the offices for important social services,” said DAGS Director and Comptroller Keith Regan in a press release.
“We are eager to refurbish the property and reopen it to the constituents who need it,” added DAGS PWD Administrator Gordon Wood in the release.
The full scope of work includes painting interior and exterior walls, new interior flooring, new lobby ceiling tiles, expanding the basement by 90 square feet to add shower and laundry rooms, repairing some exterior walls, improving lighting, electrical outlets, air conditioning and plumbing, adding 12 new parking stalls, a new driveway and parking deck and replacing the exterior wheelchair lift.
Upon completion, the center will continue to house key social service offices for the state Department of Human Services and offer more space for one or more additional service providers.
