All of us at Building Industry Hawaii are excited to get this year’s Hawai‘i’s Top 25 Contractors list into your hands. For the 37th time, we’re proud to showcase the best of the best from the local construction industry and welcome a number of new additions to this year’s rankings.
We celebrated this year’s honorees for the second year in a row at the Honolulu Country Club on June 26, with help once again from talented
local TV personality McKenna Maduli alongside the one and only Lance K. Wilhelm, president of The Wilhelm Group and new chair of the Board of Trustees at Hawai‘i Pacific University.
“The GCA congratulates this year’s Top 25 Contractors,” GCA Hawaii Executive Director Cheryl Walthall tells me. “All contractors — large or small — work hard to earn their share of business.
“It takes tenacity, flexibility and a commitment to exceeding clients’ expectations.”
Bravo! I couldn’t agree with her more.
Speaking of HPU, our awards luncheon also served as a fundraiser for the Carl and Christine Hebenstreit Fund, which was established in 2023 and will provide funding for the university’s new Master’s degree program in Construction Management — the first of its kind in Hawai‘i.
If you weren’t able to attend this year’s awards but would still like to contribute to the fund, please send me an email and I’ll get you connected to the right people.
WELCOME, VANESSA!
I also want to take this opportunity to welcome a new associate editor to the team here at Trade Media Hui. Vanessa Hathaway is a recent graduate of the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa and already has an impressive amount of journalistic experience at this point in her career.
Vanessa arrives at Trade Media after a stint as an editor for UH-Mānoa’s campus newspaper, Ka Leo O Hawai‘i, and an internship at HONOLULU magazine. Along with contributing to Building Industry Hawaii, she will also write for Building Management Hawaii and Hawai‘i Hospitality magazines.
“Being surrounded by Trade Media Hui’s experienced staff makes it the perfect place to both refine and challenge my journalistic prowess after graduating,” she says.
We’re excited to have her aboard. Feel free to reach out to her via email at [email protected].
Aloha,
Jason Genegabus
