The City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Land Management and the Mayor’s Office of Housing are looking for a development partner to renovate the Iwilei Center into a mixed-use, transit-oriented property aimed at connecting affordable housing residents with essential businesses and services.

“Housing is not just about constructing units — it’s about creating thriving, walkable and connected communities where people can truly live, work and thrive,” said Mayor Rick Blangiardi in a press release. “This transformative project is a pivotal step in reimagining Iwilei as a thoughtfully designed, transit-oriented neighborhood that puts affordability, sustainability and quality of life at the forefront.”

The project aims to deliver hundreds of new housing units and revitalize Iwilei as a walkable, mixed-use community connecting multiple affordable housing developments to commercial, government and recreational opportunities.
