Nan Inc. and the Rotary Club of Honolulu have completed the construction of three classrooms, a walkway and essential septic tanks for Francisco Ubay Memorial Elementary School in the Philippines.
The project, funded by Nan Inc., aimed to address overcrowding issues at the school to improve the students’ learning environment. The project’s workforce was comprised of 15 individuals, including employees of Nan Inc. and students from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa’s College of Engineering.
The Hawai‘i volunteers worked alongside counterparts from the Atherton and Cebu YMCAs and the Rotary Club, under the guidance of Filipino craftspersons.
Except for a brief hiatus during COVID-19, Nan Inc. and the Rotary Club have partnered every year since 2004 to conduct service projects in the Philippines.
