SSFM International announces several promotions.

John Uno, principal and structural engineer, was promoted to manager of the company’s Structural Engineering Group. Uno, who has nearly 20 years of experience as a principal, project manager and structural engineer, joined the firm in February 2023 after working at MKE Associates LLC, where he managed public and private sector clients in Hawai‘i, Guam, Japan and Okinawa.

Renee Ishisaka, principal and structural engineer, is now deputy manager of the Structural Engineering Group. Ishisaka, who joined SSFM in 2007, specializes in transportation construction management.

Wendy McLain, principal and structural engineer, was named deputy manager of SSFM’s Civil Engineering Group. She will help oversee professional staff on O‘ahu, Hawai‘i island and Maui. McLain, who holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Humboldt State University, was previously a senior civil engineer, supervising project engineers and teams working on a wide variety of civil engineering projects.

Daniel Kaiawe was promoted to deputy manager of SSFM’s Highways CM Group. He has over 30 years of construction experience, with an extensive background in highways and roads. Kaiawe has worked on projects throughout Hawai‘i in various roles and holds several certifications, ranging from the Associated General Contractors of America Supervisory Training Program and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to the National Highway Institute.

Lana Barrett, project management professional, is now deputy manager of the company’s Project Management Group. Barrett is also deputy manager of SSFM’s Project Management Group, where she provides project coordination and project management support for both public and private sector projects and clients. She is a graduate of the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa.
