Hawai‘i-based developer James Campbell Co. donated $125,000 to four Maui nonprofits to support ongoing relief efforts in the wake of the devastating wildfires in August.
“The magnitude of loss and impact on people’s lives are immeasurable and underscore the ongoing need for assistance in the foreseeable future,” the company said in a press release. “James Campbell Company is humbled to support the Maui community as work towards rebuilding continues.”
The Hawai‘i Community Foundation Maui Strong Fund received $50,000 of the total donation, with $25,000 each given to the Maui Food Bank, Maui United Way and the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement’s Kāko‘o Maui Fund.
JCC’s ties to Maui date to the nineteenth century with the founding of the Pioneer Mill Company in 1860 and the rise of the sugar industry. JCC continues to maintain interests on the island today, including the Westin Maui Resort & Spa.
