The Maui Food Bank was the beneficiary of a $100,000 donation from Honolulu-based real estate investment firm ProsPac Holdings, with the money going to support efforts to serve Maui residents affected by the wildfires in Lāhainā.

The food bank provides meals to displaced residents and collects donations of nonperishable goods, food and hygiene products. As of this issue, MFB has distributed in excess of 250,000 pounds of food to emergency shelters on Maui.

“We deeply appreciate the immense generosity of the community,” Richard Yust, MFB executive director, said in a news release. “With the support of volunteers and partners, we are swiftly distributing food and essential resources as they arrive. The residents of Maui can rest assured that we will stand by them as they recover and rebuild.”

“Access to food continues to be an immediate need facing the Maui community, and we know this gift to the Maui Food Bank will offer relief to individuals and families impacted by this tragedy,” added ProsPac Vice President William Chen in the statement. “ProsPac stands united with our neighbors and ‘ohana on Maui as we continue to work toward recovery.”
