The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation announced on May 21 that executive director and CEO Lori Kahikina received the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials’ 14th annual Celebrating Women Who Move the Nation Award for her professional accomplishments and leadership.
“I am so honored and grateful to receive this award. It is even more humbling to know that one of my own HART ‘ohana members nominated me for this distinct honor,” said Kahikina in a press release. “The award is a testament to the hard work of the entire HART ‘ohana and our key stakeholders to advance this major transportation infrastructure project in ways that will truly benefit the City and County of Honolulu.”
COMTO held its annual award breakfast in Washington, D.C. this past May, where Kahikina accepted the award. Kahikina is the first woman from Hawai‘i to receive this award.
Founded at Howard University in 1971, COMTO provides a forum for transportation professionals to ensure transportation properly serves communities. It has since grown to 40 chapters across the U.S. The Women Who Move the Nation Award is one of the highest honors offered by COMTO and recognizes outstanding women in the transportation industry.
