HPM Building Supply, a fifth-generation locally owned business in operation since 1921, announced June 6 that it acquired Truss Systems Hawaii, Maui’s leading building component manufacturer, and with the deal launched a new division of the company — Truss Systems by HPM.
No jobs were lost in the deal, according to the company, with all 33 team members from Truss Systems becoming owner-employees with HPM, ensuring a seamless continuation of operations on the Valley Isle.
“Truss Systems Hawaii has been the market leader on Maui for 30 years across 28,000 projects for good reason,” HPM Chairman and CEO Jason Fujimoto said in a statement announcing the acquisition. “Nobody has a better reputation for expertise, quality and putting the customer first. … We are excited to join forces and grow together.
“Providing more locally prefabricated building materials right here on the island gives builders more options and capacity to make housing more attainable and affordable for residents,” he added.
Truss Systems by HPM will offer a comprehensive range of products to both residential and commercial builders on Maui, including precision-engineered wood roof trusses and floor trusses; metal trusses that are resistant to insects, mold and fire; and wall panels up to 20 feet in length.
“HPM and Truss Systems understand what it means to serve the community,” said Scott Loomer, Truss Systems Hawaii founder and now director of Truss Systems by HPM. “Becoming part of HPM is the beginning of a new chapter.”
According to HPM, the Truss Systems acquisition highlights the company’s commitment to addressing Maui’s housing needs and supporting the local building industry. By enhancing its product offerings and expanding its manufacturing capabilities on the island, HPM aims to provide builders with more options and capacity to create affordable housing solutions for residents.
