Aug. 12 is now “United Brotherhood of Carpenters Day” in the City & County of Honolulu.
Mayor Rick Blangiardi’s proclamation, issued Aug. 11, celebrates the 142nd anniversary of the union’s founding on Aug. 12, 1881, and honors its local chapter, the Hawai‘i Regional Council of Carpenters.
Also in attendance at the Honolulu Hale ceremony earlier this month were HRCC Executive Secretary Treasurer Ron Taketa, Pacific Resource Partnership Interim Executive Director Kyle Chock and union representatives from other counties who will celebrate the anniversary in their respective districts.
