HPM Building Supply opened HPM Oʻahu Design Centers on May 4, 2025, its first on the island, within the Nā Lama Kukui Lifestyle & Design Center at 560 N. Nimitz Hwy. Grand opening festivities included a traditional blessing followed by cooking demonstrations, door prizes, tasting tables and a raffle for a kitchen appliance package from Thermador valued at $25,000.

Attendees experienced HPM’s three showrooms featuring home products, appliances and fixtures from manufacturers like Bosch, Gaggenau, Miele and TOTO. Experienced HPM employee-owners, design specialists and vendor representatives were on-hand to discuss curated product collections and interior renovation options with visitors. The showrooms also featured packaged house plans by HPM Homes that ranged from one-bedroom accessory dwelling units to five-bedroom models.

Now in its 104th year, HPM Building Supply is known traditionally as a resource for construction industry professionals, supplying and manufacturing products such as doors, windows, wall panels, trusses, lumber, paint, gutters and other jobsite staples. The Design Center concept, while new to Oʻahu, has already secured a presence at neighbor island locations across Kauaʻi, Maui and Hawaiʻi island.

HPM Design Centers offer personalized experiences for interior home renovations or new builds, featuring kitchen and bathroom cabinets, countertops, fixtures, flooring and appliances from premium brand manufacturers. The newest entry brings the concept to Oʻahu, establishing a presence in the bustling Iwilei area alongside similarly themed neighbors within Nā Lama Kukui.

“The grand opening of our O‘ahu Design Centers fulfills a long-anticipated dream,” said Jason Fujimoto, HPM chairman and CEO in a press release. “Over the last century, HPM has been fortunate to grow from a lumber planing mill in Hilo to a full-service statewide building supplier, providing materials from foundation to roof and everything in between. Now, we’re thrilled to bring to O‘ahu the expert home design services that have helped generations of kama‘āina build better and live better. Our vision is to be a one-stop home design destination for renovations, remodels and new builds, helping homeowners bring their inspiration to life.”

As a fifth-generation local company, with 18 Hawaiʻi-based locations and one in Washington state, HPM has supplied local contractors on countless projects in its more-than-100-year history. Among the projects that HPM has been involved in are Laʻiʻ Ōpua Phase 3 and Hōkūliʻa on Hawaiʻi island and the Old Koga Theatre on Oʻahu’s North Shore.
